This is what happens to your face when you try to race the Hubster

One of those little things I somehow forgot to blog about:

Jason ran a half marathon last month (13.1 miles).  The dude hardly trained for it, and still managed to crank it out in just over 7 minutes per mile.

What?!!

But the best part? These photos of him & another guy duking it out on the home stretch:

Jason got passed! *cue look of intense determination

Jason passed him back! *cue victorious grin & stride like a RAPTOR GOING IN FOR THE KILL

Am I mean for laughing really, really hard at both of them?
...especially considering I haven't run more than a mile in about a month...?

That is awesome. I love the victorious grin.

13.1 on a track? Ouch. I can't run more than 3 or 4 on a track, because I get too distracted and sometimes discouraged by counting laps.

Love the guy's face at the end. :)

hahahahaha the faces!!!! and his stride is SO raptor like. props for the dinosaur likeliness.

Jeff-- seriously. Me too. I laughed harder at that than at the other guy's face!

Linds, oh HAYYYL NO did he run 52 laps in one go. The course meandered all over the city and ended at the stadium, where lots of people could sit in the bleachers and cheer : )

kelshkelsh-- I thought of you when I wrote that :>

Haha! Awesome! Go Jason!

Answers to your questions, btw:

1) I would just rent it. I mean it's funny, but it's basically just the same jokes over and over.

2) I think I sort of unjustifiably thought that going to the gym would cure me of my body hatred which just hasn't happened. My husband has been my trainer and he has me doing two days of torso/arm stuff and one day of legs/running (I still can't run all that far, something else that pisses me off). After six months I have some definition in my arms/abs/back, but I don't feel any different or any stronger. I think I just hate myself even more because I feel like I haven't gotten very far, and I don't know how to fix it.

Throw in the fact that I pretty much detest working out - I don't get any of these endorphin rushes that people talk about, I just hate it and want it to be over. I do it because I want to be healthy, but all in all feeling tired and sweaty and sore is just not something I enjoy. I think this just makes the frustration even worse, though I don't think it makes me work out less or with less intensity.

Hehe aren't you glad you just got a peek into my psyche? I'm one of those people who need to see instant results (I need to be perfect at something he first time I do it, kind of a thing) so I'm being too hard on myself. I think I just have to stick with it because even if I don't see a difference my body is healthier.

My wife is training for a half marathon! I can't wait to see her. Now if only I could get running a mile down...

I love this because the other guy almost looks as if he is going to die... tongue sticking out... straining... while Jason barely looks like he is breaking a sweat.
So either the other guy just got the raw end of the photography angles deal... or your husband is a running beast.

If I could put a caption to this it would be:

Hubster: Wait, did I just run 13.1 miles? Really? Wow, feels like I just took a nap.

Other guy: Can't....make....it.... must.....breathe.....

Hilarious.

Markie, he is absolutely undeniably a running beast.

You just don't get to see the aftermath, where he laughs/cries afterwards telling me about a bystander who was playing battle hymns on a kazoo. Or that he curled up into a ball of agony for two hours once we got home....

Adrian, good luck to your wifester!!
& WovenMoments, YES. Haha I'm so glad this moment was photographed : )

I love Mr. Blue Shoes. I can almost hear him screaming Vader-style, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

I don't know anything about running, but 7 minutes sounds super fast. Congrats to Jason!

LOL! I am laughing so hard right now. At first I was only looking at Jason's face, which is priceless in the last two photos (he has that content look of "ha, I did it") then...I noticed the other dude's face. Raptor going in for the kill about sums it up. Hahaha! Ah, this makes me miss the days of track. I do remember Jason was probably one of the most intense trackers on the team.

Those pics are awesome, and way to go to capture the whole thing on film (or memory card?)

I probably have only run a mile like 3 times in my life. I didn't enjoy it.
